(KOH) – Jason Soto, who has spent the last three years as Reno’s acting police chief, is now officially the Police Chief.
A unanimous Reno Council affirmed the appointment of Soto. One of the chief’s top commanders, Ollie Miller calls Soto a friend and a mentor who’s done the city a lot of good as acting chief.

Soto vaulted past two deputy chiefs, four dozen lieutenants and sergeants to get the appointment, although he did not technically meet the minimum requirements at the time.
