There’s a worldwide increase in opioid production, transportation and consumption. Production alone has tripled since the 1980’s. The National Institute on Drug Abuse says opioid addiction is responsible for $26 billion a year in health care costs, and $52.5 billion a year in lost work productivity and crime related expenses.
