On National Tax Filing Day, U.S. Senator Dean Heller highlighted how tax reform is benefiting Nevada families and small business owners during a speech on the U.S. Senate floor. Heller, a member of the tax-writing Finance Committee, helped craft the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act and authored a key provision of the new law that doubled the child tax credit from $1,000 dollars per child to $2,000. Heller says as a direct result of the new tax law, about 11,000 Nevadans are getting a raise, roughly 13,000 Nevadans received special bonuses of up to $2,000, and up to 25,000 Nevadans may benefit from college tuition assistance, increased pension funding, expanded maternity and paternity leave, and more paid holidays.
