Reno Man Will Spend 16 years in Prison After High Speed Chase Involving Gunfire

A Reno man will spend the next 16 years in prison for several charges stemming from a chase where he fired at law enforcement. On January 18th, 2017 a Washoe County Sheriff’s Office K9 unit attempted to stop 35-year-old Eugenio Enrique Corona’s vehicle. He sped away, drove through a stop sign and a red light, and almost caused two separate accidents — one at Wedekind Road and Sullivan Lane and the second at Wedekind Road and El Rancho Drive. During the pursuit, Corona fired a shot at law enforcement following him, then threw the firearm out of the window. Corona then lost control of his truck and crashed into the front yard of a house on the corner of Montello & Wilder Street.
