(KOH) – A giant wad of baby wipes is being blamed for a sewage spill in a South Shore this week. It’s also being credited for a change in policy by the South Tahoe Public Utility District, who delayed putting out warning signs notifying the public of E coli contamination in a neighborhood near the Pioneer Trail. General Manger at STPUD Richard Solbrig talks about what they’re doing differently.
The Utility is also asking the public to refrain from flushing the wipes, and instead throw them in the garbage. Wipes are found in 100 percent of all clogs their workers unplug.
