NWS Reno: Hard Freezes Still Possible

(KOH) – The warm weather has you gardeners thinking about getting out in the dirt, but Reno’s National Weather Service is warning you to proceed with caution. There’s no guarantee that we’re past any hard freeze, which is when temperatures get below 28 degrees at night. In Reno, the average last hard freeze is April 7, but the latest hard freeze on record is May 11!
In Minden, the last hard freeze happens by May 16 on average, but it has happened as late as June 13!
And in South Lake Tahoe, it’s been below 28 at night as late as July 4th! Good luck up there!
