Truckee Meadows Fire Ends Open Burning Season

Truckee Meadows Fire has ending the permitted spring burn season. Residents were allowed to burn vegetation and ditches for vegetation management beginning in March, but that ended Sunday. The District will schedule additional opportunities for residents to use other methods to dispose of green waste. Fire Chief Charles Moore says “We are surrounded by heavy fuels that are drying out with the onset of warm weather. ” May is Wildfire Awareness Month, and residents will have “Junk the Juniper” opportunities as well as other activities for the family.
