Reno City Council Approves Marijuana Business Ordinances

Reno City Council approved the introduction of an ordinance to amend the zoning code, and creating standards for recreational marijuana businesses. The provisions include limiting hours of operation to midnight, preventing any new marijuana businesses in downtown, and requiring retail marijuana stores to be located at least 2,500 feet apart. Two new chapters in the municipal code related to business licenses were added to address cultivation, production, testing, distribution, and retail sales of marijuana. This includes a 3% tax on gross revenue, which is the maximum amount allowed under State law.
