Nevada Supreme Court Will Hear Arguments on Sanctuary City Ballot Question This Week

Tuesday, the Nevada Supreme Court will hear a case involving a ballot question that seeks to ban sanctuary cities and policies statewide. In January, the American Civil Liberties Union of Nevada challenged the legality of a ballot measure that would bar government entities across the state from adopting so-called “sanctuary city” policies. The ACLU’s reason is because they say the measure violates Nevada law because it misleads voters by failing explain the effects it would have on communities if passed. The ACLU of Nevada also says the measure violates a state law mandating that ballot measures be limited to a single subject.
