Teenage Suspect Arrested After Fatal Shooting in Dayton

Reno Police have arrested 17-year-old Malik Avila, wanted for Monday night’s shooting death in Dayton. According to the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office, the shooting happened shortly after 9 p.m. Monday on Pine Cone Road. After an investigation, deputies identified Avila as a person of interest. About noon Tuesday, Reno Police responded to a home on Snapdragon Drive, west of Hug High School, on a tip the suspect might be there. That operation led to a brief Code Yellow lockdown at Hug. Avila was arrested at that home. The name of the victim has not been released.
