A driver who was trapped under an overturned tanker, causing the closure of State Route 88 in Alpine County, has died. Investigators say the tanker was traveling at an unsafe speed when it crashed shortly after 10:00am. The tanker was carrying a bleach solution which spilled into a creek and went into the Carson River. Eric Laughlin with the California Division of Wildlife said the river is running high and the bleach appears to have been heavily diluted. Hazardous materials teams remained to clean up the scene.
