Gerlach Students Will Soon Have a Shorter School Week

The 24 students who go to elementary, middle, and high school in Gerlach will have a shorter school week to look forward to in the future. Washoe County School District has agreed with the staff, and most parents in Gerlach, to reduce school days from five to four, adopting a Monday through Thursday schedule. The school will also give up it’s week of in fall in exchange for the week of Burning Man. The decision was made last Tuesday, and was supported by 100 percent of staff, and 84 percent of families who live there. It’s on a trial basis, and will be readdressed in two years to see if the shorter week was successful, and should be continued.
