Washoe County School District Advances School Safety Idea

Washoe County School Trustees are moving ahead with a proposed visitor management system, that would require visitors to have their driver’s licenses scanned before they are allowed to enter school campuses. The scanner will read visitors’ driver’s licenses, run a quick check and then give clearance to enter. Emergency Manager James Hendrickson says the system will check sex offender databases, and will be able to tell if person has been restricted from Washoe County schools due to a previous trespass incident, or if they have any child custody orders in place. Lobby Guard has been awarded a $390,000 contract for the project.
