Argument Leads to a Stabbing at South Lake Tahoe Motel

An argument led to a stabbing at a motel in South Lake Tahoe, that left one person with life-threatening injuries. It happened Monday at the Mark Twain Lodge on Park Avenue. South Lake Tahoe police say 45-year-old Edmundo Martinez stabbed the 23-year-old victim numerous times with a kitchen paring knife. The two were roommates and had recently moved to South Lake Tahoe from Las Vegas to work for a cleaning service. Investigators say Martinez had been drinking alcohol and got into an argument with the victim before the stabbing. Martinez left the scene as officers arrived, but was quickly taken into custody. He was treated for injuries sustained during the stabbing. The victim was taken to Renown Regional Medical Center, where he is in stable condition, according to police.
