Amtrack Passenger’s Injuries Near Truckee May Have Been Attempted Suicide

The family of a 22-year-old train passenger found severely injured next to railroad tracks in Truckee, , suspects he may have been the victim of a hate crime, but Amtrak’s police chief says they have found no evidence of foul play. The Chief of the Amtrak Police Department says they believe a this was an “attempted suicide” and that the man jumped out of an open window from the train. Aaron Salazar’s family believes the Portland State University student, who was gay, was attacked and didn’t jump from the train. Amtrak says investigators reached out to more than 300 people for information.
