Two People Killed in Crash on Highway 50 Identified

The Nevada Highway Patrol has released the names of two people killed in a head-on crash on Highway 50 east of Silver Springs Monday. Preliminary investigation indicates the driver of a Ford Ranger pickup was headed west on US-50 toward Silver Springs, and crossed the center line, hitting a Chevrolet Trailblazer SUV headed east. The driver of the Ford, 35-year-old Matthew Stevens of Silver Springs, and the driver of the Chevrolet, 75-year-old Karen Garretson of Fallon, were killed. Both had been wearing seat belts. No one else was in either vehicle. The crash happened about 3PM June 4, 2018 about three miles east of the intersection of 50 and 95 Alternate, known as Four Corners.
