Senator Catherine Cortez Masto co-sponsored legislation to ensure that each state has the right to determine for itself the best approach to marijuana within its borders. The bill also extends these protections to Washington D.C, U.S. territories, and federally recognized tribes, with guardrails to ensure they do so safely. She says Nevada voters have made it clear that they favor the regulation and taxation of marijuana in the state, and that the federal government must respect the rights of states who choose to legalize and regulate marijuana. She says it also respects the rights of states that have not chosen to pursue legalization.
