Voluntary Evacuations Lifted Near The Site of The Voltaire Fire in Carson City

The Voltaire Fire burning in Carson City’s Voltaire Canyon has now burned an estimated 504 acres, according to the US Forest Service. The fire is 30% contained, and voluntary evacuations have been lifted for residents of the Clearview Street area, and for the Indian Colony on Curry and Rhodes Streets. Carson City Fire Chief Sean Slamon says it’s burning sagebrush northeast toward the city, but no structures are threatened, as it’s been pushed into a burn scar from last year’s fire season. Multiple agencies are fighting the fire, including Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District, Bureau of Land Management, the US Forest Service, East Fork Fire, Nevada Division of Foresty, Carson Fire and North Tahoe Fire. About 200 firefighters are on scene.
