Latest on Wildfires Near Lovelock, Wadsworth

Sierra Front is reporting a 25-acre wildfire burning in the Eagle Peak area, southwest Wadsworth. Storey County officials say that there are no structures threatened. Aircraft will be assisting with the fight this morning, as crews are having a hard time accessing the fire because of the steep terrain and big rocks. The cause remains under investigation.

 

Crews say they are in the mop up phase on the Rocky Fire about 24 miles north of Lovelock, though full containment has not been reached. The fire that started about 7:15 p.m. Saturday evening and has burned just over 16-hundred acres. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Non-mandatory evacuations were in place but those have since been lifted, and people have returned to their homes. One outbuilding and a car were damaged. The fire is believed to be 50-percent contained.
