Some members of Congress will tour Yucca Mountain as they aim to restart a licensing process and eventually store nuclear waste there. A bipartisan group of U.S. House members will tour the site July 14. The visit will be led by Illinois Republican Rep. John Shimkus. He is the chair of the U.S. Energy and Environment subcommittee on environment. The tour follows a similar visit in 2017 by Energy Secretary Rick Perry and another tour by members of Congress in 2015.
