Lightning Sparked Fires on Peavine Mountain Contained

The Kiowa Fire is fully contained after growing to 120 acres. The 192-acre Hoge Fire is also contained. Both fires on the east side of Peavine Mountain were started by lightning the night of July 14th. There were no evacuations for either fire. The Hoge Fire was northwest of Rancho San Rafael Regional Park; the Kiowa Fire was about a mile north of the Hoge Fire. Both fires were on land managed by the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest. Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District says crews spent Saturday night mopping up two much smaller fires in the Antelope Valley area north of Reno.
