The Bureau of Land Management reports the Perry Fire is 45 percent contained and has burned about 49,141 acres, or about 77 square miles. Three homes and 15 other structures have been damaged or destroyed, according to BLM. Right Hand Fork, Home Ranch, Wilcox and Olinghouse Canyons are still under evacuation notice from the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office. Evacuated residents returning to their homes are asked to exercise caution, as equipment will still be in the area.
David Radonski was arrested by Washoe County Sheriff’s Office Detectives Tuesday, as part of a joint investigation into the Perry Fire. Radonski is charged with two counts of First-Degree Arson and 41 counts of Third-Degree Arson. Investigators say additional charges may be filed once a full assessment of the fire’s damage has been completed. Rodonski originally told investigators that the fire was started by a couple in an off road vehicle. He later admitted to starting the fire while playing with fireworks. Specifically, roman candles.
