Carson City Sheriff Kenny Furlong says investigators believe a man found with a chest wound Sunday shot himself. Paramedics treating the driver of a crashed vehicle in Carson City discovered he had a small-caliber gunshot wound to his chest. He was taken to Reno for treatment and is expected to survive. Furlong says the man, whose name has not been released, told deputies he had been shot as part of possible gang activity, but upon further questioning and witness statements, the story changed. The man now says the gun went off in the car, and deputies believe the wound was self-inflicted. It happened at the offramp from Interstate 580 at College Parkway.
