Former Nevada Governor and U.S. Senator Paul Laxalt has died at the age of 96. Laxalt passed away at a healthcare facility in Northern Virginia. Nevada lawmakers are sharing their condolences online.

Senator Dean Heller tweeted, “Very sad to hear that my friend and mentor Paul Laxalt has passed away. His legacy of leadership and delivering for Nevada will live on for generations.”

Governor Sandoval tweeted: “I am devastated by the loss of my friend and mentor, Paul Laxalt today. He was a statesman and a consummate gentleman. May he Rest In Peace.”
