Just a couple of days ago, Attorney General Adam Laxalt told the RGJ he was working to earn every vote, including that of Governor Brian Sandoval. He may get that vote in November, but apparently he won’t get a public endorsement. Reportedly the Governor doesn’t plan to endorse anyone in the race to replace him. Sandoval and Laxalt have had an icy relationship, especially over Laxalt’s proposed repeal the Commerce Tax, which was passed in 2015, to fund education. They also clashed when Laxalt asked to abstain from a vote to pardon Fred Steese, who by all accounts was an innocent man, wrongly convicted. The Governor wouldn’t permit that, and Laxalt offered the only “No” vote on the Board of Pardons.
