There have been several so called “Hot Prowl” burglaries in the Reno Sparks area. That’s when someone breaks into a home while the residents are inside, usually sleeping. In a Sparks incident a woman woke up to see a man in her home performing a lewd act. In separate cases in Reno home entries were attempted near the University of Nevada. Police are advising residents to keep windows and doors locked, and consider technology like motion activated lighting, or video camera to provide an extra layer of protection. Getting rid of places for people to hide around your home is also advised.
