Nevada racked up nearly 70 million dollars in recreational marijuana sales tax revenue in the first year, about 40% more than the state projected. Total marijuana sales were just under $425 million. Overall sales topped 529 million. Bill Anderson, Director of the Nevada Department of Taxation, says there have been no major problems or compliance issues, and that the businesses are complying with regulations. The tax department also announced transfer of more than $27 million to the school distributive school account. That’s from the wholesale tax and licensing fees.
