Slide Fire Burning in Washoe Valley Caused by Plane Crash

Fire crews are on scene of a brush fire, caused by a plane crash, above Davis Creek in Washoe Valley. There is no containment on the Slide fire, which has burned an estimated 40 acres. There are no structures threatened, but officials are asking residents to be ready to leave if the wind changes direction and moves the fire towards structures. The fire is about a mile southeast of Winters Creek Lodge at Mount Rose Ski Resort, burning northeast in timber and brush. Witnesses speaking to our news partner KOLO 8 News Now report seeing a glider explode…

At one point, crews say the fire was threatening the Mt Rose Ski area, but as of 4:30 p.m., they say it is no longer advancing in that direction.
