The US Forest Service says the Slide Fire is 95% contained after burning about 80 acres. The fire started shortly after the crash of what the Federal Aviation Administration says is motor-glider September 2nd. There were two people on board. One person has been confirmed dead by the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office, but no information has been released from investigators regarding the status of the other person said to have been on board. No cause has been determined for the crash. The fire is about a mile southeast of Winters Creek Lodge at Mount Rose Ski Resort, but the lodge is not threatened. It is burning northeast in timber and brush. No structures are threatened, and no evacuations have been called for.
