Carson City and Douglas County officials are reporting the first known West Nile infection for 2018. The person who contracted the disease had the less severe form of the illness. They released no other information about who was infected or how. West Nile virus spreads to humans through mosquito bites. Mosquitoes get the virus by feeding on infected birds.
