The Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District reports while they’re still working to get full containment of the Pioche Fire in Palomino Valley, they have stopped forward progress, and say it is no longer directly threatening homes. The fire is estimated to have burned about 80 acres, that was downgraded from 100 acres. Officials say it is 15 percent contained. Eleven aircraft have been fighting the fire with ten fire engines, one dozer and four water tenders, plus a hand crew. The Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District asks residents in the area to be ready for voluntary evacuation in case winds change. The fire was believed to have been started accidentally by someone using welding equipment.
