Reno and Las Vegas Will Go Dark in Commemoration of 1 October Massacre Victims

The City of Reno will join the statewide Vegas Strong movement by going dark Monday, October 1st from 10:01 to 10:04 p.m. The City will turn off power to the iconic Reno Arch on Virginia Street, The Space Whale art sculpture on City Plaza, The Reno City Hall roof signs, including the normally lit “RENO” City officials are encouraging other local businesses and entities to join the cause of going dark, or to host events of their own on Monday.
Reno joins other Nevada cities and towns in recognizing the anniversary. Resort marquees along the Las Vegas Strip will go dark October 1st as will the “Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas Nevada” sign.
