A Reno man serving time in prison has been convicted of trafficking in methamphetamine. The U.S. District Court jury found 53-year-old Edward “Smitty” Smith, guilty of conspiracy to possess and distribute at least 50 grams of methamphetamine, illegal use of a communication facility, and money laundering. Smith had his daughter’s ex-boyfriend sell meth to another inmate’s associate in Reno. The transaction was recorded in prison telephone calls. The last sale involved a pound of meth for $7,000.
