Dicey Forecast For Sierra and Northern Nevada For the Holidays

The National Weather Service in Reno has issued a series of Advisories and Watches for the greater Reno area. Holiday travel impacts, such as slippery road conditions and potentially long delays, are likely across the Sierra and western Nevada today through Friday. Rain and snow will likely cause significant impacts to travel across the Sierra (above 7,000 feet) Wednesday afternoon through Thursday morning. A significant wind event could cause disruptions to travel on Thursday and Friday. Drivers headed into higher elevations should carry a winter travel kit that includes items such as blankets, gloves, hats, food, water and any needed medications.
