Thanks to a grant from the federal Bureau of Justice Assistance, $360,000 in funds is going to Washoe County so District Attorney Chris Hicks can appoint a deputy DA, who will investigate untested rape kits under Nevada’s Sexual Assault Kit Initiative. DA Hicks says he’s put DDA Darcy Cameron in to coordinate the funding, and work directly with Washoe County law enforcement on this program.

The goal of the SAKI program is to get justice for victims, and to improve the office’s response to victims of sexual assaults.
