Child Rapist Gets a Sentence That Would Keep Him in Prison for 198 Years

A sexual assault suspect who jumped bail during his trial in Reno in 2016, but was arrested in Mexico, returned to Nevada and convicted, has gotten nine life terms. 35 year old Selvin Zecena-Valdez was convicted of 10 felony counts related to the sexual assault of a female relative under the age of 14 over the course of three years. Sparks police originally arrested him in 2015. He had been released on $560,000. He then testified on his own behalf but made a run for it when cross-examination was set to resume.
The sentence translates to 198 years before parole eligibility.
