Tuesday, Nevada legislators are expected to hear a different version of the background check initiative that was approved by voters two years ago, but never implemented. It’s expected it will mandate background checks be done for all private firearm gifts and sales. Senate Majority Leader Kelvin Atkinson it’s an important week and the anniversary of the Parkland shooting, so there was some desire to respect that and honor the folks affected by that and those affected by gun violence in our state. Some republicans are trying to rally opposition, and Senator James Settlemeyer is encouraging constituents to testify.
