Reno City Council this week approved a zoning amendment, for a site in South Reno that could be the home of a new regional hospital. The site is located south of South McCarran Blvd., between Longley Lane and Double R Blvd. Universal Health Services, Inc. would operate the hospital– they also own Northern Nevada Medical Center in Sparks. The proposed facility would be called Northern Nevada Sierra Medical Center. Developers say it would be the first full service hospital built in Reno since St. Marys’ in 1908.
