Nevada Highway Patrol Responds to Train Crash

NHP responded to a train crash in central Nevada Saturday morning. The accident occurred at around 6:30am on State Route 306 about 5 miles south of the I-80 Beowawe interchange. According to NHP, a Union Pacific train was traveling Eastbound on the railroad tracks while a big rig heading southbound on State Route 306 crossed the tracks. The truck’s trailer did not clear the tracks in time and the train hit it, causing approximately 4,000 gallons of diesel fuel to spill onto the roadway. The train did not derail and there were no injuries reported.
