Forest Service Gives The Greenlight to Snow Bridge Plan

The U.S. Forest Service has tentatively greenlighted a plan to build two chairlifts and a snow bridge across Mt. Rose Highway, to expand access at Mount Rose Ski resort to 11 proposed trails proposed farther down the mountain. The draft record of decision approving the resort’s expansion involves 112 acres north of the Highway. The plan includes a five-million-gallon water tank to support snowmaking. It would ban future development of commercial uses across all but about 180 of the 3,400 acres on national forest land.
