Washoe County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested a Reno couple on multiple charges, after a rash of wire thefts from power poles in the North Valleys. The investigation began March 5th, when a Sheriff’s deputy noticed damage to utility poles along North Virginia Street between North Red Rock Road and White Lake Parkway. These poles had been intentionally cut. Similar damage was discovered on poles in the same area two days later, and again March 15 in the area of Seneca Drive and North Virginia. March 17, a patrol deputy saw a vehicle parked in the area of the March 15 damage. Deputies say 35-year-old Roxanne Pemberton of Reno, could not provide a credible explanation as to why the vehicle was there, or the whereabouts of a male companion she said was with her. A search turned up 41-year-old Harry Hodgerney of Reno, hiding nearby with a pair of bolt cutters. Deputies also noted damage to a utility pole in the area. Both people were arrested.
