Bill Would Allow People to Seal Pot Conviction Records

A bill that would seal records of low-level marijuana convictions will help people move forward with their lives, according to supporters of AB 236. Assemblyman William McCurdy told legislators that thousands of Nevadan’s have convictions tied to simple marijuana possession. He says the legislation will help more people gain employment, and regain the right to vote, and remove the stigma of a criminal conviction, for something that is now legal in Nevada. McCurdy says low-level marijuana convictions can currently be sealed, but the process is difficult. There would be no fee to seal the records.
