Former in Reno Tuesday, On Rising Chronic Disease Costs

A public forum called, The Rising Cost of Chronic Disease is set for Tuesday March 26 at 11:30 am at the
Renaissance Reno Downtown Hotel, One South Lake Street in Reno. According to the Partnership to Fight Chronic Disease, in 2015 1.7 million Nevadans had at least one chronic disease and 693,000 had two or more chronic diseases. The projected overall cost of chronic disease in years 2016-2030 in Nevada is $401 billion dollars. Chronic diseases could cost Nevada $18.7 billion in medical costs and an extra $8 billion annually in lost employee productivity. The projected per person medical and productivity costs are $8,400 per resident in 030 if current trends continue. Keynote speaker will be Dr. Kenneth Thorpe, who will bring key information on the role that chronic disease plays in the growth in healthcare spending.
