Nevada private schools say their values are under attack, in a bill that is supposed to be about suicide prevention. The Alliance Defending Freedom says SB 204 requires schools to support and affirm LGBTQ ideology, and they say that conflicts with their religious mission. They say the proposed bill would likely be unconstitutional because it infringes upon the rights of private schools and families. They worry this bill could empower government officials to demand religious schools modify policies and practices, that conflict with the needs of students who identify as gay or transgender. ADF adds, “If Nevada can tell private schools to enact this policy, then there is virtually no limit to what else it can demand.”
