More details have been revealed about an officer involved shooting that happened March 20th at an apartment complex on Double R Boulevard. Sparks Police say their investigation of the Reno incident showed that the suspect, 42 year old Ronald Akers, scuffled with police, got a hold of an officers baton, and hit him several times, the officer was able to draw his weapon despite being badly injured and shot Akers once in the torso. Akers has now been released from the hospital and is in Washoe County Jail facing multiple charges including attempted murder.
