Federal Judge Will Provide Oversight at Mineral County Jail

A federal judge will provide oversight at Mineral County jail, after a settlement was paid to a woman who died while in custody for unpaid tickets. The family of the woman was awarded more than $2,000,000 in a wrongful death lawsuit. The lawsuit claimed Sheriff Randy Adams and deputies showed deliberate indifference to Kelly Coltrain’s serious medical needs and ultimately caused her death. Coltrain was addicted to drugs and was not hospitalized despite suffering seizures while withdrawing from drugs.
