A Plumas County woman has been charged with helping her daughter commit suicide.
Tuesday, the California Highway Patrol notified the Plumas County Sheriff’s Office about a woman’s body in the woods on Lee Summit. Sheriff’s deputies found the body of 52-year-old Etta Elmore from Penn Valley, California about 50 feet over an embankment off a dirt road that parallels Highway 70. There were no obvious signs of injuries on the body. 67-year-old Michelle Powers, admitted she had helped Etmore end her life by providing her with prescription medication. Powers, from Lake Wildwood in Nevada County, was arrested for assisting in her daughter’s death. She was booked into the Plumas County jail in lieu of $250,000 bail.
