A suspicious-looking package near a Winnemucca bank was reported near Washington Federal Bank on Fourth St. in Winnemucca about 1:20 Thursday afternoon. Police took precautions since it was near a bank and a retail area. Businesses in the immediate area were evacuated and the closures were extended to other areas, with Winnemucca Boulevard closed between Potato Road and Hanson Street. Authorities called in the Elko Police Department Bomb Squad. Just after 6:30 p.m., police said the situation was safe and streets were opened but did not disclose the content of the package.
