Crews Stop Five Acre Blaze in NW Reno

Fire crews have contained a brush fire on the property of the former Northgate Golf Course. Flames were reported shortly after noon Tuesday east of Somersett, off Beaumont Parkway. The progress of the fire was stopped at about five acres. No structures were damaged and no injuries reported.  Members of a work crew using a grinder on a gate started the fire and called 911 when they  they couldn’t put it out. Reno Fire was assisted by Sparks Fire, Carson City Fire, Truckee Meadows Fire and the Nevada Division of Forestry.
