Douglas County Man Convicted of Second Degree Murder

Jose Rodriguez-Quezada has been convicted of second degree murder by a Douglas County jury. He had claimed the killing of another man at a Lake Tahoe hotel-casino was self-defense. Prosecutors said Kevin Edwards had been stabbed or slashed 30 times at the Hard Rock hotel in Stateline. The jury determined the killing was not premeditated, but he was convicted of second-degree murder with the use of a deadly weapon in the October 2017 stabbing. Rodriguez-Quezada is in the country illegally and faces deportation once he completes his prison sentence.
